Diabetes Sugar Levels - The Issues Are More Than Just the Numbers

Diabetes sugar levels really refer to blood glucose levels which if they drop below a certain point, the body tries to compensate by releasing hormones like glucagon and epinephrine which in turn will release sugar from the liver but some cannot do this and so this may cause hypoglycemia.

To prevent this from happening, it is good to remember that exercise and eating right are two of the basic forms of controlling the diabetes sugar levels. If someone told you that by walking to the corner market, eating an orange and walking home each day for five days a week could change your life, would you do it?

There is also the chance of a better life, a happier outlook certainly for it beats depression and helps fight diabetes all in one simple step. This one change in life could be the changing point forever. This will be saving you money in medical bills and retaining peace and harmony in your life.

So get up, exercise for 25 minutes a day, walking briskly. Then eat more fruits and vegetables in your diet and this could help save your life. Do it for the ones you love and for yourself! The recommended percentage of exercise is about two hours per week, or about 25 minutes five days a week.

Walking is by far the easiest and almost anyone can do it. If you are a member of a gym, swim, work out, take a friend with you, laugh and have fun. If you’re a senior, consider gathering a group to go to the local high school walking track. Or go to a shopping mall and do your walking there with the group,

My in-laws participate with their church group, this way. I live on five acres in the country, so I can walk the perimeter and enjoy the outdoors, see the new animals in the woods and a few minutes later, I’ve accomplished two miles and more because I was able to manage my diabetes sugar levels.

If you’re wheel chair-bound, try using hand weights such as a one pound can of green beans, go for a wheel-walk outside around your neighborhood, or just clap your hands above your head and swing your arms to the side, out straight in front and rear circles. You can do anything to keep moving for 25 minutes a day. You won’t believe how much better you’ll feel, how much empowered you’ll feel.

There’s an exertion scale I’ve read where your goal should be two or three when ‘the most exhausting’ would be a ten. This will be enough to know you’ve done some exercise, and your heart’s beating a bit faster. And your diabetes sugar levels? Better for sure!

We all have to take care of ourselves, with the threat of obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and high blood pressure threatening our way of life if we don’t take control of our diabetes sugar levels today! If someone told you that you could improve your chances of living a quality life longer by just a few extra minutes a day, why wouldn’t you? I would, I have. Join me!
